What is IDAC?

Intercultural Diversity Advisory Council (IDAC) draws members from parents to represent our school at district level climate assessment/problem-solving meetings. The primary purpose of the Intercultural Diversity Advisory Council (IDAC), originally formed in 1988 as the Intercultural Advisory Council, is to assist in the formation and review of policies that assure non-discriminatory practices in all operational areas of the Clovis Unified School District. Acceptance and Understanding of All

School Culture - Acceptance and Understanding of All

Students will have a deep understanding of and respect for all groups on campus.

A black and gold poster with a tiger mascot, promoting respect and inclusivity with the message: 'Follow the golden rule. Share our similarities; celebrate our differences. Stand up for yourself and others.' A black and gold logo featuring a tiger's head with the text 'Century Elementary, Home of the Tigers' and 'Building Pride In Every Way'.

Century will explicitly teach components of culture and inclusiveness throughout the year.

Century staff, PAC, HRC, and Student Council will teach & reteach the 6 components of “Character Counts!” and implement a common school wide system of behavioral expectations.

Century Staff and Administration will utilize students to collaborate, model, teach, and help design materials and lessons for the student body with a focus on student inclusion and teaching cultural awareness.

Century will publicize and communicate Character Counts and student expectations information to students and the community during announcements, assemblies, and all social media outlets. Century will create and update the IDAC page on the school website. Century students will share cultural learning at an IDAC meeting.

Century will continue to be a “Digital Citizenship” school.

Century Staff and Administration will utilize resources to help kids become familiar with safe online practices.
Century will publicize and communicate digital citizenship strategies and lessons to students and the community during announcements, assemblies, and all social media outlets. The focus will be on accepting and understanding others to help improve school culture, emphasizing the importance of equity to prevent harassment and bullying.
