Century welcomes a new 1st grade teacher!
am Suzie Acheatel and I was born and raised in Westlake Village, which is in
the Conejo Valley down in southern California. When I am not teaching, I am
busy with my own kids; Davis who is 19 and an avid basketball player, Mason who
is 17 and a technology wizard, and my twin step-daughters, Aly and Aubrey, who
are 14 and the most amazing artists. Between hectic school and sport schedules
we are a very busy family, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. Although this
is only my first year at Century Elementary it will be my 22nd year teaching
elementary school. I have spent my career teaching Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and
3rd grade in the Conejo Valley and Moorpark Unified School Districts. I am
very excited about my new path here in the Clovis Unified School District, as I
have just moved to Clovis this past June. Prior to teaching I earned my B.A.
degree in Television Production where I worked in the show business industry for
several years only to decide that my calling was in the classroom. One thing
you'd be surprised to know about me is that I am a 3rd degree black belt in
Tang Soo Do, a Korean-style martial arts. I trained for many years as a child
and earned my 1st degree black belt at the age of 12. I then went back as an
adult to earn 2 more black belts while my family trained alongside me. Both,
Davis and Mason, are black belts as well. My husband, Rob, and I were married 3
years ago July in Maui but have known each other since we both attended middle
and high school together 30+ years ago down south! Rob is a pilot for United
Airlines so we are a family who loves to travel the world.
